I hope you now know that loving yourself is not selfish.
But for some reason, when it comes to our children, that logic seems to go out the window.
If we want our children to truly feel self-worth, we need to also be role models by showing them what loving ourselves looks like.
Children learn first by the example that we set as parents. If we do not show self-love to ourselves, our children will learn that self-love doesn’t matter. They will look for external validation on their every action.
Psychologist and family empowerment coach, Dr. Lynyetta Willis, notes 6 ways we can model self-love for our children:
1) Self-awareness
2) Self-compassion
3) Self-acceptance/ Self-expression
4) Self-care
5) Self-exploration
6) Self-extension

With lots of love,
Jenna
