My Friend,
As you may already know, one of my favorite ways to keep self-love top of mind is remembering that “your love is your power”.
In my book, I talk about the concept of having an invisible, internal power container. Imagine that this vessel rests in the area of your heart.
What level would you say your power container level has been on lately? PowerFULL, powerLESS or perhaps somewhere in between?
A good indicator of where our power levels are is how we feel from day to day.
If you’re feeling like life is amazing and your heart is singing, fantastic! That’s what it feels like to be on powerFULL.
But if you’ve been feeling unhappy, pessimistic or just plain bleh…well, then this could be a good indicator that your power reserves are low and you are probably in need of a recharge.
So what drains us of our power?
Giving too much of our attention to things outside of ourselves (such as: work, the news, political issues, social media, everyone else, things we can’t control) and not enough attention on ourselves and doing the things that charge us up.
Remember, your LOVE is your power!
You can also think of your love as your attention, energy or focus.
When we are constantly putting our attention on things outside of ourselves, and very little on ourselves, this WILL drain you of your energy my friend.
And when all of our power goes outside of ourselves, this gets reflected in our mood. When we are depleted, we simply feel bad.
It’s important to our mental health and well-being to spend time (each and every day if possible) giving ourselves our attention and care, and charging up our power containers.
So what charges us up? Doing anything that makes you feel good and brings you joy.
While vacations and spa days are nice, these can be time consuming, costly luxuries that most of us aren’t able to do on the regular.
So to charge up on a regular basis, I have what I call my “Joy List” activities. These are easy, simple things that I can easily do every day.
Some items on my Joy List include: most kinds of outdoor exercise such as biking, walking, or tennis, listening to music at home or work, journaling, reading, connecting with good friends, watching funny animal videos, and writing these love notes to you.
Keep in mind that your Joy List will probably look very different than my Joy List.
Perhaps yours might include: playing with a pet, playing a musical instrument, singing, affirmations, painting, writing a gratitude list, or some other activity or hobby.
If you haven’t done so already, I highly recommend writing down your own Joy List of around 3-6 items, and place that list somewhere where you can see it each day.
It will serve as a powerFULL reminder to charge yourself up each and every day.
With lots of love and support,
Jenna
